👨‍💻

Hi, I’m Casey Simmons — and my reputation is on the line.

SIMTEL is my business. Not a faceless corporation, not a call centre in another country — me. I live and work in South Australia, and I’m personally invested in making sure every customer I take on gets a service that actually works and support that actually shows up.

I won’t sign you up to an NBN plan that won’t cut it for your situation. My personal reputation depends on getting this right — and that’s not something I take lightly. If Starlink is genuinely the better option for where you live, I’ll tell you that too.

We Get It — You Switched for a Reason

A lot of people moved to Starlink because their previous internet provider completely let them down — slow speeds, no support, long wait times, and a feeling that nobody actually cared. I understand that frustration completely, and frankly, those providers deserved to lose your business.

Here’s the thing though: Starlink is genuinely impressive technology. If you’re in a truly remote area where NBN simply isn’t available, it’s an outstanding solution — and I’d be the first to tell you to stay on it.

But if NBN is available at your address, the price rise is a good moment to pause and ask whether you’re getting the best value — and most importantly, whether you’re getting the support you deserve.

That’s where I come in. I’m here to fill the gap that drove you away from traditional telcos in the first place: real, local, human support from someone who actually gives a damn.

Closing the Support Gap

The reason so many people left traditional telcos wasn’t the internet itself — it was the complete lack of support when things went wrong. I built SIMTEL specifically to fix that.

A Real Person Answers

When you call SIMTEL, I or a member of my South Australian team picks up. No overseas call centres, no automated menus, no ticket queues. Just a person who knows your area and wants to help.

🏠

In-Person Support (SA Only — Location Dependent)

Need a modem set up, Wi-Fi sorted, or something weird happening with your connection? Depending on where you are in South Australia, I may be able to come to you in person. Message me first and we’ll work out what’s possible — something no big telco or satellite provider offers at all.

🔎

I Diagnose Before I Recommend

I won’t just upsell you a faster plan. I’ll actually investigate what’s going on — your modem, your Wi-Fi setup, your connection type — and give you an honest answer, even if that answer is “your current setup is fine.”

🇦🇺

South Australian, Through and Through

I know South Australia. I know the regional areas, the NBN rollout challenges, the infrastructure quirks. When you talk to me, you’re talking to someone who understands your specific situation — not someone reading from a script in another country.

💬

Ongoing Relationship, Not a Transaction

I’m not interested in signing you up and disappearing. I want to be your go-to for anything internet-related — now and in the future. Follow me on Instagram, DM me questions, call me when something’s not right. I’m here.

Fast Provisioning

My provisioning systems can transfer your service or get you online quickly — often within minutes of signing up, depending on your connection type. No weeks of waiting, no endless back-and-forth.

3 Questions to Ask Before You Decide

Don’t make a rushed decision either way. These three questions will help you figure out the right move — and I’m happy to help you work through all of them.

1

Is NBN available at my address?

NBN now covers the vast majority of Australian homes and businesses — and it’s constantly evolving. What wasn’t available two years ago may well be available now. NBN Co is continually expanding and upgrading the network, just as Starlink is improving its satellite constellation. If you haven’t checked recently, it’s worth a fresh look. I can check this for you in seconds — just message me your address.

2

Is my internet problem actually a speed problem?

This is the big one most people miss. A huge number of internet complaints — buffering, dropouts, slow streaming, gaming lag — are not caused by your internet plan speed. They’re caused by your modem, your Wi-Fi setup, or how your home network is configured. More on this below.

3

What support will I get when something goes wrong?

Starlink support is entirely online — no phone number, no local technician, no one who knows your address or your setup. If that’s been frustrating, it’s worth knowing there’s a different way. With SIMTEL, you get a real person who answers the phone and can help sort it out.

The Truth About “Slow Internet”

Most people assume slow internet means they need a faster plan. In reality, the plan speed is rarely the problem. Here’s what’s actually going on in most homes.

Common Myth

“I need to upgrade to a faster plan to fix my internet.”

If your 100Mbps plan feels slow, buying a 250Mbps plan usually won’t fix it. The bottleneck is almost never the plan speed itself — it’s what happens between your modem and your devices.

The Reality

Most internet problems are modem, router, or Wi-Fi issues.

Older modems, poor Wi-Fi placement, interference from neighbouring networks, too many devices on a single band, and outdated firmware are responsible for the vast majority of “slow internet” complaints. A simple modem upgrade or Wi-Fi extender can transform your experience — without changing your plan at all.

What I Check When You Call Me

  • Age and model of your current modem/router
  • Wi-Fi band configuration (2.4GHz vs 5GHz)
  • Number of devices connected simultaneously
  • Physical placement of your router in the home
  • Whether you need a mesh Wi-Fi system for larger homes
  • Your NBN connection type (FTTP, FTTN, HFC, Fixed Wireless)
  • Internal wiring quality and connection points
  • Your actual plan speed vs what you’re getting

I diagnose first, recommend second. I won’t upsell you a plan you don’t need.

Why Starlink Pricing Is Likely to Keep Evolving

This isn’t a criticism of Starlink — it’s just the physics and economics of how satellite internet works. Understanding it helps you make a better long-term decision.

📡 How NBN Capacity Works — and Why It’s Different

Fixed-line NBN technologies (such as FTTP, HFC and FTTN) use physical infrastructure to deliver a connection to your premises. In the case of FTTP, this is a dedicated fibre link, while other technologies use shared network segments at different points in the infrastructure.

Importantly, while some parts of the network are shared, fixed-line capacity is engineered and controlled. This means performance is generally more consistent and predictable, even as more users come online in your area.

When additional capacity is needed, NBN Co can upgrade network equipment at exchanges, nodes, or aggregation points — typically a faster and more cost-effective process than launching new infrastructure into orbit. These upgrades can be targeted to specific areas experiencing demand.

From a pricing perspective, NBN operates under a regulated wholesale framework. This doesn’t mean prices never change, but it does provide a level of structure and predictability. Retail providers build their plans on top of these wholesale inputs, which tends to result in more stable pricing outcomes for end users over time.

That’s why fixed-line services are generally viewed as stable, upgradeable infrastructure, rather than capacity-constrained platforms that rely on pricing and prioritisation to manage demand.

The bottom line: Starlink is exceptional technology for remote areas where no alternative exists. But where NBN is available, fixed-line infrastructure offers more predictable pricing, more consistent performance, and — with the right provider — far better support.

Starlink vs SIMTEL NBN — Side by Side

An honest comparison to help you make the right decision. I’ve tried to be fair to both options.

Feature Starlink SIMTEL NBN
Monthly Price (typical) $75–$210/month (residential, and rising) $75–$125/month (up to 1Gbps — technology & availability dependent; inflation-linked increases may apply over time)
Price Stability Variable — pricing and plan structures can change with notice, and there’s no long-term price lock. Stable — changes are rare; any increases are modest and communicated in advance
Hardware Cost Hardware cost varies. Some offers include a no-cost rental kit or discounted hardware. If it’s a rental kit, it must be returned (typically within 30 days of cancellation) or charges may apply. For many NBN connection types, the required nbn connection device (e.g., FTTP connection box/NTD) is installed at the premises as part of the nbn connection. Your Wi-Fi router is typically your choice — we can supply one if needed.
Contracts No lock-in No contracts, no lock-in
Unlimited Data Unlimited, but performance can be deprioritised during congestion depending on plan tier. Truly unlimited on all plans — no deprioritisation
Speed Consistency Varies with satellite congestion, weather & peak times Stable, dedicated connection — consistent at peak times
Capacity Scalability Capacity shared across coverage areas; expanding requires new satellite launches & spectrum management Capacity expanded via targeted node/exchange upgrades — faster and more cost-effective
Fixed IP Address Not available on residential plans Included on all plans
Local Australian Support Online only — no phone, no local tech Real SA-based team — phone, chat, in-person (location dependent)
In-Person Technical Support Not available Available in SA — location dependent, message us first
Latency (ping) 20–60ms+ (variable, weather-dependent) Typically 20–40ms (fixed line)
Best For Remote areas with no fixed-line NBN access — genuinely excellent here. Anywhere fixed-line or fixed wireless NBN is available — better value & support. (Note: NBN Sky Muster satellite is a separate product — not offered by SIMTEL)

Prices and features accurate as of May 2026. Starlink pricing subject to change without notice. SIMTEL pricing subject to rare, modest inflation-linked increases communicated in advance.

Understanding Your NBN Connection Type

Not all NBN is the same — and knowing your connection type helps you understand what speeds and performance you can expect. The NBN is also constantly being upgraded, so what was previously available at your address may well have improved by now.

FTTP

Full Fibre to the Premises

The gold standard. Pure fibre optic cable runs directly to your home. Fastest, most reliable, lowest latency. Supports up to 1Gbps. Many areas are being upgraded to FTTP right now — ask me if yours is eligible.

HFC

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial

Fibre to the node, then coaxial cable (like pay TV cable) to your home. Excellent speeds and reliability in most cases. Supports up to 1Gbps on upgraded nodes.

FTTN

Fibre to the Node

Fibre to a street cabinet, then copper wire to your home. Speed depends on your distance from the node. If you’re experiencing slow FTTN speeds, I can diagnose whether a line upgrade or plan change will help — and many FTTN areas are being upgraded to FTTP.

FW

Fixed Wireless

A radio signal from an NBN tower to an antenna on your roof. Common in regional and semi-rural areas. A practical option where fixed-line NBN isn’t available — and NBN Co has been making significant upgrades to Fixed Wireless towers across Australia, improving speeds and reliability in many areas.

Not sure what type you have, or whether your area has been upgraded? I’ll check for you. Just message me your address and I’ll tell you exactly what’s available and what performance you can expect.
